....& YES ITS 2015!

"while nobody imagined that in 2014, a bunch of beheading youth would control a territory the size of England, retards keep discussing 2015" -Nassim Nicholas Taleb

we are all the same...& please do not predict the future

How many times have you said, I will never eat after 6 pm or will never light a cigarette again?? one time too many and my guess is as good as yours, you always go back to the very same thing that you abhor so much. well i have come with good news, do not feel so bad you do it because you are human and mortal and most of all, we all do it & "we are all the same".

Now its 2015 and am sure so many of us would have written a long list of resolutions, stuffs to do and not to do just like you have done in times past! the next 365 days will act as your (& my) judge. But remember one thing, the future is really hard to predict, as you would have seen from my opening quote.

I am a big culprit of dumping resolutions within the first 7 days of the new year, telling myself i will come back. Take for example this blog and post you are reading; my intention was for the blog to come live since start of 2014 and here i am, the very first post at the beginning of 2015. Now, you might want to call that irresponsible or sheer laziness, but over the years i have come to realize that if i do not run after the train, then i feel no pain when i miss it. This i have put into most of my daily dealings but please do not get it mixed up, i am far from lazy!!

the good, bad and ugly

ok, lets review 2014 a little bit and take scores before setting out fully into 2015. 2014 was not a bad year for me, i got married to the woman of my dreams (whispers: there were times i felt like strangling her within the year) but its been awesome so far. I never knew i could make such a good husband. I did a couple of projects that i look back, smile and pat my behind :-) saying well done. I made some killings in stock market on Oando and Transcorp shares, but not enough to go into full retirement. The year also came with challenges no doubt, on the job and with friends. Oh yes...this year i saw some friends differently, some as brothers and others not so much. It seems to go with the idea that we loose more friends as we grow older.

Abit on the macro picture; had serious challenges with my very good friend, Nigeria! It seems 2014 did not work out for him as initially planned. He showed serious signs of emaciation in the second half of the year as crude oil prices plunged by over 50%. The most annoying part of all was the way and manner which his doctors (rulers) acted and are still acting. My grievance draws from the trust i had on these set of doctors in 2011 and even up till now, i believe they can do much more and sincerely hope they live up to my expectations. Well, i have another opportunity to choose a doctor for my friend Nigeria, come February 2015(i will discuss my choices and reasons in a couple of days...just stay tuned! :-) ).

whilst some of us would say 2014 has been good (please note it was excellent for the politicians), and some regions will claim "BAD"; it was definitely "UGLY" for some. UGLY would cover victims of insurgency across the globe, fatalities of the Malaysian & Airasia Airlines and all those living in war torn regions like Iraq, Syria,Libya, Ukraine, Nigeria & kenya.

words from apostle Paul

The word "HOPE" keeps us alive with a strong sense of better things just around the corner. This word gives us courage that no matter how long these passages there remains light at the end of the tunnel. This hope sets us into 2015 feeling happy that things will turn around for the "best" leading to our long list of resolutions from living more healthy, better diet, changing jobs and so on. Lest i forget, statistics has shown that over 80% of people globally have very similar new year resolutions. Remember i told you, " we all the same".

I hope for the same things too, but more importantly for me is to get more in-tuned with my spiritual and cultural side. This has led me to add some strange (according to my lovely wife) resolutions this year like decorating my library with more books on bini culture and history books covering African continent. I do sincerely hope i will have the time to read them. But for now, i am really glad i made it to 2015 and going by my personal moto of " been better than i was yesterday" i leave you with one of my favorite quotes from the holy book and wish us the best of 2015. See you at the other side!

"Phillipians 3:13 Brethren, i count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing i do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before"
